Anthropological Survey of India., a subordinate office of the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports, functions under the Department of Culture of this Ministry.

The S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences is named after Prof. Satyendra Nath Bose, well known for Bose Statistics. The Centre presently has three functioning divisions Physics Chemistry Mathematics.

Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) is the power house of the Indian electrical industry.  It functions as a centre for applied research in electrical power engineering assisting the electrical industry in product development and quality assurance.

Centre for Advanced Technology (CAT) is a research centre under the Department of Atomic Energy, dedicated to research and development in the field of advanced technologies like accelerators, lasers, cryogenics and plasma.

The Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) is a frontier institute engaged in basic research in selected disciplines of modern biology and their successful applications.

Computer maintenance Corporation( CMC) Limited was set up in 1976 to take up the challenge to service all installations left by IBM, when IBM decided to wind up its operations in India in 1978. The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) set up in 1948 was the combined vision of Homi J.Bhabha and Jawaharlal Nehru, the contry's first Prime minister. The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS)  is the oldest (estd.1876) institute in India devoted to the pursuit of fundamental research in the frontier areas of the basic sciences. The National Centre for Radio Astronomy(NCRA) is the school in Natural Sciences of the Tata Institute of fundamental Research.  NCRA offers opportunities for front-line research in Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics.
