The
investments made in Science and Technology infrastructure since 1947 are now making an
impact on the Indian scene. Consequently the transition to a market
economy has been very smooth. The emergence of India as an IT global hub, quick
adaptation to the emerging area of Biotechnology, use of IT in the
Banking and Communication sectors, advances in Space technology are just a few examples. This
website captures some of these events in a continual manner. The obvious
impact of S and
T in terms of economic and social development is also covered.
The
web site contains 12 Channels which are updated frequently. Agriculture
news is updated on a regular
basis. A new channel devoted to Information and Communication
technologies for development (ICT4D)
has been added. Individuals as well as Institutions in India
or USA are invited to send information regarding
conferences/workshops and any press releases for publications along with
the URL. Giving a link to this web site on their web pages will be
appreciated.
